Slagmaur Unleash “Huldergeist” Video & Announce New Album Hulders Ritual (2026)

Norway’s most unpredictable cult, Slagmaur, has resurfaced from the shadows with a brand-new video for "Huldergeist" — a chilling third glimpse into their upcoming album "Hulders Ritual" (out 27 February 2026 via Prophecy Productions). Fans have waited nearly a decade since Thill Smitts Terror, and the wait is finally starting to pay off.

Slagmaur have always operated in that strange borderland between black metal, cinema and folklore, and this new chapter seems to lock everything into even darker focus. General Gribbsphiiser — guitarist, filmmaker, photographer, and chief architect of the madness — shaped the album’s visual universe himself, while the new video was filmed by drone virtuoso Håkon Settemsdal, whose aerial work captures the ferocity of Norwegian nature with uncanny precision. The single draws from a documented case at Fosen in which a villager went “bergtatt” — taken by the hidden folk and erased from reality — grounding the album’s themes in old rituals, paranormal lore and deep-rooted Nordic myth.

The band’s core of Gribbsphiiser, Dr. Von Hellreich, Mr. Unt Zilla and Red Max is reinforced by an absolute murderer’s row of guests: D.G. (Misþyrming) and Hoest (Taake) appear on “Huldergeist,” with a haunting closing passage sung by Maria Charlotte Lund; D.G. and Silenoz (Dimmu Borgir) return for “Rathkings,” while Wraath (Darvaza), Bartholomäus Resch (ArsGoatia) and Doedsadmiral (Nordjevel) manifest elsewhere across the album. Production sees additional oversight from the legendary Snorre W. Ruch of Thorns, while mastering was handled by Stein Bratland — a name deeply entwined with the lineage of Manes, Slagmaur and the dark arts of Trøndelag.

Pulse Records has been following every cryptic hint leading up to "Hulders Ritual", including the now-infamous disappearance stunt involving Gribbsphiiser, Ruch and local emergency services — a theatrical strike at the heart of what black metal should be: dangerous, unpredictable, and fascinating. We’ll be stocking the album in multiple formats once it lands, so keep your senses sharp — this ritual is only beginning.
