Rotting Christ - 35 Years Of Evil Existence Live Concert Released

Rotting Christ have unveiled the entire two-hour concert film 35 Years Of Evil Existence – Live In Lycabettus, now streaming in full via their official YouTube channel. Released on Blu-ray through Season Of Mist on December 12, this monumental performance captures the band’s celebrated 35th anniversary show at the iconic Lycabettus Hill Theater in Athens.

The band shared: “We decided to release our historical live performance in Athens last year in BLU RAY! That was a special night for us where we celebrated our 35 years of existence together with thousands of fans from all over the world and we wanted this night to be marked for ever in our heart!”

Recorded in their hometown, the concert functions as a full-scale journey across Rotting Christ’s extensive career — spanning early black metal beginnings, the rise of their ‘Hellenic’ melodic identity, and their modern anthemic era. From early works like Satanas Tedeum and Passage to Arcturo, to Theogonia, Rituals, and The Heretics, the performance serves as a testament to their evolution and dominance across over 35 years of extreme metal history.

Rotting Christ continue to be a commanding force on stage as well, with the Tolis brothers leading hundreds of shows in 2024 alone. The Lycabettus special stands as the pinnacle of these performances: a two-hour, career-spanning ritual of blasphemous energy, melodic grandeur, and atmospheric power, captured with high-quality production for Blu-ray and digital streaming.

Season Of Mist has also announced a newly re-recorded edition of Aealo, arriving January 23. Featuring enhanced production, revitalized dynamics, and guest appearances by Diamanda Galás and Alan A. Nemtheanga (Primordial), this edition elevates one of Rotting Christ’s most ambitious works into a more cinematic, forceful and immersive experience.

Since their formation in 1987, Rotting Christ have built a legacy of constant reinvention. From raw early chaos to defining the Hellenic black metal sound and embracing ritualistic, multilingual, and poetic influences, their journey remains one of the most dynamic in extreme metal. Across 13 studio albums and over 1,300 live performances, the band has proven themselves an enduring monolith of the genre.

The current lineup remains strong: Sakis Tolis (guitars, vocals), Themis Tolis (drums), Kostas “Spades” Heliotis (bass), and Kostis Fouk (guitar).

No tour dates have been announced yet for a potential follow-up to the 35 Years Of Evil Existence release, though more news is expected soon.
