Ex-PANTERA Vocalist TERRY GLAZE Returns With AXE DRAGGER Featuring FU MANCHU & DARK FUNERAL Members
Every once in a while, the metal universe coughs up a project so unexpected, so loaded with pedigree, that you instantly feel like a kid in a record shop again. Today is one of those days. The legendary TERRY GLAZE — the original voice from the early glam-metal era of PANTERA — has resurfaced fronting a brand-new heavy metal supergroup: AXE DRAGGER.
Not just that — they’ve officially been signed by the riff-obsessed powerhouse label RIPPLE MUSIC. And the lineup? Pure collector bait. We’re talking guitarist BOB BALCH of FU MANCHU, bassist FREDRIK ISAKSSON from the mighty DARK FUNERAL, and former PENTAGRAM drummer PETE CAMPBELL. If this were a vinyl pressing, you'd already be fighting scalpers for it.
The band’s origin story feels just as old-school as the sound they’re chasing. Balch and Campbell started tossing riffs and drum patterns back and forth remotely — no pressure, no deadlines, just pure inspiration. Then TERRY GLAZE sends back his first vocal take for the track “Axe Dragger”… and everything explodes. Suddenly it isn’t a casual side-project anymore. It’s a fully forged beast.
Balch himself describes the vibe perfectly: early-80s heavy metal worship — twin-lead duels, harmonic minor madness, RIOT and DIO energy, and that unmistakable IRON MAIDEN Powerslave aura woven into every lick. Backed by a mix from BRIAN SCHEUBLE (MÖTLEY CRÜE, WHITESNAKE, STP, NIN) and mastering by DAVE COLLINS (METALLICA, SOUNDGARDEN), this thing is built to shake shelves and melt speakers.
AXE DRAGGER’s debut self-titled album drops Spring 2026 via RIPPLE MUSIC, and honestly? If the rest of the record hits as hard as this first track, collectors are going to be scrambling. Vinyl, CD, cassette — anything this supergroup stamps their name on will be a no-brainer addition to the physical shelf.
And since you're here for the riffs… here’s the world premiere of their very first song. Trust me: this one rules.
No stock available at Pulse Records yet — but the moment physical copies hit the underground, we’ll be hunting them down. This is the kind of release destined for future “why didn’t I buy it then?” regret.
