Blind Guardian - New Material Planned for 2026

Blind Guardian vocalist Hansi Kürsch has revealed that the band will shift their focus toward new material and long-pending acoustic projects throughout 2026. Speaking with Brutal Planet Media, Kürsch discussed the band’s intense touring cycle in support of their 2022 album “The God Machine,” describing it as far more extensive than originally planned.

“We did far more than we were intending to do. But they forced us with money. We couldn’t say no,” Kürsch explained, noting that the past three years have been almost nonstop touring. After one final hometown show in Krefeld on December 19, the band will shift gears and finally bring an end to this unusually long live stretch.

Looking ahead, Kürsch confirmed that 2026 will be dedicated to writing and completing several Blind Guardian projects that were delayed due to touring. This includes work on acoustic material — most notably an acoustic reimagining of their 1998 classic “Nightfall in Middle-Earth,” which he says is already well underway. The band hopes to finish these projects in 2026, or early 2027 at the latest, before eventually returning to the road.

Kürsch also emphasized that the band remains creatively active even during heavy touring periods: “There is always interaction between the members, and we come up with concepts and ideas for how things could go on.” Still, he noted that the physical and mental demands of touring leave limited time for family life and creative work, making the upcoming break essential.

Upcoming Focus
• New Blind Guardian songwriting in 2026
• Completion of acoustic projects
• Further development of the “Nightfall in Middle-Earth” acoustic version
• Possible touring return after 2026–27
